OMG: Democratic Reps crash an ICE deportation site and find a HORROR show – people begging for help through cracks in the doors, packed on concrete floors, and ICE agents ignoring people in desperate need of medical help.
Three Democratic members of Congress, Yassamin Ansari, Adelita Grijalva, and Greg Stanton, fulfilled their legal duty making an unannounced, late-night oversight visit to the ICE staging facility at Mesa Gateway Airport and came out describing it as disgusting, overcrowded, and horrific.
They said people were packed shoulder to shoulder on concrete in rooms built for about 21 to 24 people, with roughly 40 or more human beings crammed inside each one and about 45 people sharing a single open-air toilet.
Ansari said, Someone asked me to come down, I bent down and he said, “It’s so hot in here, somebody has a fever, can you please help us, somebody is really sick in here.” When Ansari asked the supervisor for medical help, he stared at her blankly and said, “They’re busy right now. They’ll come after you leave.”
Grijalva: I didn’t see blankets. People were laying straight on the concrete in a row like sardines. Stanton said many appeared to have been there for days, even though the facility is only supposed to hold people for up to 12 hours before deportation flights.
THANK YOU to these three members of Congress for exposing what Trump’s deportation machine looks like when the doors finally open. It takes not just words, but ACTION.
Now come the Congressional hearings, and holding these monsters accountable — getting people fired, putting them in prison, and wiping the people at the top OUT at the midterms.
