🚨 HOUSE DRAMA: Hegseth Impeachment Vote Delayed Until After Midterms

Washington was thrown into a political showdown this week after Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, introduced eight articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The resolution accuses Hegseth of several serious violations, including conducting military operations against Iran without proper congressional authorization. Massie’s resolution was filed as a privileged measure, meaning House rules required lawmakers to address it within two legislative days.

But before that vote could take place, House Speaker Mike Johnson abruptly ended the House’s session early and sent lawmakers home for the midterm recess. The House is now scheduled to return on November 9, meaning the impeachment resolution will not be considered until after the elections.

Democratic lawmakers accused Johnson of deliberately avoiding the vote. Rep. Mike Levin said Democrats had enough support to pass the impeachment resolution, while other Democrats similarly argued that the early recess was designed to prevent a bipartisan vote.

Johnson, however, rejected that characterization and called Massie’s impeachment effort a “publicity stunt,” saying he expected the resolution would ultimately be tabled when lawmakers return.

The unusual confrontation has placed Hegseth’s leadership and the administration’s handling of the Iran conflict at the center of a growing congressional dispute.

For now, there will be no House vote on Hegseth’s impeachment before the midterm elections. The fight is effectively on hold until Congress returns in November.
