BREAKING: Democratic Senate Candidate Graham Platner Calls for Impeachment of At Least Two Republican Supreme Court Justices
Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is openly calling for the impeachment and removal of at least two Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices over ethics violations and corruption.

“There is structural power in the Senate to deal with the Supreme Court,” Platner said. “It’s going to require us to get the majority, but at that point I very much think we need to be exercising ethics oversight over the court.”

He continued: “If we held Supreme Court Justices to the exact same standards we hold federal judges, there is a compelling case for the impeachment and removal of at least two.”

Platner, the frontrunner in the Democratic primary to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins, added that Democrats must be willing to use power once they have it: “We need to elect people to the Senate that want to wield power like that, who understand that power matters.”

He’s right. The public has watched in outrage as Clarence Thomas accepted lavish gifts and luxury trips from billionaire Harlan Crow, and Samuel Alito received a private jet flight for a luxury fishing vacation from hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer — all while ruling in ways that benefit their wealthy benefactors.

This is not normal. These are not minor ethical lapses. They are clear conflicts of interest that would get any lower-court judge removed.

Democrats need to make Supreme Court ethics and accountability a central issue. The public is fed up with a Court that acts like it’s above the rules.
