Former Attorney General Pam Bondi is now refusing to sit for a deposition tied to the Epstein investigation after being subpoenaed by Congress, and the reasoning is raising alarms.
The Justice Department claims she no longer has to appear because she was subpoenaed in her role when she was attorney general, and has since been fired.
But that explanation falls apart fast. Congress has subpoenaed former attorneys general before, including Bill Barr, who still sat for questioning.
Rep. Nancy Mace made it plain: Leaving office doesn’t mean you get to dodge accountability… show up or face contempt.
Rep. James Walkinshaw added: The subpoena did not become null and void when she was fired.
