FBI Investigation Reveals Suspect Received 5 BTC Hours Before White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting That Led to Donald Trump’s Evacuation

Investigators Reviewing Cryptocurrency Transaction in Connection With White House Correspondents’ Dinner Security Incident

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal authorities are reviewing a cryptocurrency transaction that may be relevant to an ongoing investigation into a security incident that briefly disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, according to individuals familiar with the matter.

Sources say the Federal Bureau of Investigation is examining records indicating that a person of interest received approximately 5 Bitcoin (BTC) in the hours leading up to the event. The transaction, which is publicly traceable on blockchain networks, is being analyzed as part of a broader effort to determine whether there was any premeditation tied to the disruption.

The annual dinner, attended by prominent political figures, journalists, and public personalities—including former President Donald Trump—was momentarily interrupted following what officials described as a “security concern.” Trump was escorted from the venue by protective personnel as a precaution, though no injuries were reported.

Law enforcement officials cautioned that the existence of the cryptocurrency transfer does not, on its own, establish intent or coordination. “At this stage, all financial activity connected to individuals under review is being scrutinized,” one official said, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the investigation.

Experts in digital finance note that while blockchain transactions are transparent, identifying the parties behind them can be complex. “A transfer of this size could be unrelated, coincidental, or part of a legitimate exchange,” said one analyst familiar with cryptocurrency tracing.

Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect, and no charges have been announced. The investigation remains ongoing.
