Chelsea Suffer Injury Blow As New Signings Set To Miss Pre-Season Tour
Chelsea new signings, Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quneda are set to sit out the Blues’ pre-season tour after suffering injuries.
According to talkSPORT, Emegha will miss the first leg of Chelsea’s tour to Australia having picked up an issue in a friendly.
Emegha injured his hamstring during the Blues’ 3-0 victory over League One club Bromley, which was played behind closed doors.
The Dutch international was later excluded from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
Geovany Quneda, who suffers from a slight fitness condition, was also absent from the travelling party.
It’s a bad start for the two, who formally joined Chelsea this summer.
Emegha joined the Blues from their sister club Strasbourg after scoring eight goals in 18 outings across all competitions.
However, the 23-year-old battled with his fitness throughout the 2025/26 season, missing a total of 33 appearances for Strasbourg due to injuries.
Chelsea beat Manchester United to Quenda’s signature in March last year, but the transfer didn’t happen until this summer.
The 19-year-old joined Chelsea on an eight-year contract, with the club paying an estimated £42 million to lure him away from Sporting CP.
Emegha and Quenda’s acquisitions add to the Blues’ already busy summer.
Chelsea’s Summer Acquisition
Chelsea have already spent more than £250 million under new manager Xabi Alonso, who took over in May.
Morgan Rogers, who arrived from Aston Villa for an eye-watering £117 million, is the highlight of the west London club’s summer expenditure thus far.
Rogers’ transfer fee positioned him as the most expensive British player of all time.
The Blues recently agreed a £52 million deal with Crystal Palace to bring Maxence Lacroix to the Bridge.
Chelsea were also convinced to pay £47 million for Italy international Marco Palestra.

Palestra looked set to join Inter Milan from Atalanta, but the west Londoners beat the Serie A winners to the deal.
Chelsea’s spending to date has been backed by a number of major outgoings.
Marc Cucurella, who helped Spain in winning the World Cup, joined Real Madrid for an initial £47.5 million, while midfielder Andrey Santos moved to Manchester United for £50 million.
Alejandro Garnacho was also taken off the Blues’ roster when Aston Villa signed him on a season-long loan with a buyout clause.
