Francuskie władze potwierdziły pierwszy przypadek zakażenia wirusem Ebola wykryty na terytorium Francji. Pacjentem jest lekarz, który wrócił z misji humanitarnej w Demokratycznej Republice Konga. Został natychmiast odizolowany w specjalistycznym szpitalu, a służby sanitarne rozpoczęły identyfikację i monitorowanie wszystkich osób, które miały z nim kontakt.
Jakie jest ryzyko transmisji?
Eksperci podkreślają, że ryzyko dla ogółu społeczeństwa jest bardzo niskie. Ebola nie przenosi się drogą powietrzną jak grypa czy COVID-19. Do zakażenia dochodzi poprzez bezpośredni kontakt z krwią lub innymi płynami ustrojowymi osoby chorej, a także z zakażonymi materiałami.
Europejskie Centrum ds. Zapobiegania i Kontroli Chorób (ECDC) ocenia, że przy szybkim wykrywaniu przypadków, izolacji pacjentów i monitorowaniu kontaktów ryzyko trwałego rozprzestrzeniania się wirusa w Europie pozostaje bardzo niskie.
