A French general just shredded Trump’s Iran strategy in a brutal interview, openly mocking both the plan and the people behind it. Michel Yakovleff didn’t hedge.
He was reacting to Trump’s proposal to build a runway in Iran during an active war, and that NATO should help. The response was immediate and ruthless.
Yakovleff: American officials should stop snorting between meetings. You can’t have an American operation where they’re bombing whatever they can, and then below that, then expect Europeans doing something else. No, no, no, it has to be one sole operation, if you want to do it under a NATO flag. I don’t think he’s understood that.
And then he got brutal.
Yakovleff: On the Titanic, it appears the captain wanted to sell tickets off cheaply for the dinner-dance after hitting the iceberg.
He made it clear how much of a joke Europe thinks Trump’s war plans are.
Yakovleff: The Americans have to put this in writing. Not tweets, not things that change every two minutes. This is not serious.
Country after country has already rejected Trump’s push. The U.K., France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, even China. No one is stepping in.
