Tijjani Reijnders Leaves Manchester City for Al Qadsiah in €61m Deal
Tijjani Reijnders has officially completed a surprise move from Manchester City to Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah, bringing his time at the Etihad Stadium to an end after just one season.
The transfer, valued at €61 million, was confirmed on Wednesday, August 19, with the Netherlands international becoming the latest high-profile player to make the move from European football to Saudi Arabia.
Reijnders’ Manchester City spell ends
Reijnders joined Manchester City from AC Milan in June 2025 after an outstanding campaign in Serie A, where he was named the league’s best midfielder and scored 15 goals in all competitions. City handed him a five-year contract at the time.
However, his stay in England proved to be relatively short. During his only season with City, the Dutch midfielder made 50 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists.
With City undergoing a major midfield rebuild, Reijnders eventually found himself surplus to requirements. The arrival of Elliot Anderson and further changes to the squad contributed to the decision to allow the midfielder to leave.
A major signing for Al Qadsiah
For Al Qadsiah, the deal represents a major statement of ambition. The Saudi club finished fourth in the Saudi Pro League last season and is continuing to strengthen its squad with established international talent.
Reijnders will now work under manager Brendan Rodgers and is expected to play an important role in the club’s midfield as they look to challenge near the top of Saudi football.
The €61 million transfer also makes Reijnders one of the most expensive signings in Al Qadsiah’s history.
Another major change for Manchester City
Reijnders’ departure is part of a dramatic transformation of Manchester City’s midfield. The club has already invested heavily in Elliot Anderson, while Rodri has also left for Barcelona, meaning the squad is undergoing significant changes.
City will now have to move forward without Reijnders, who arrived in Manchester with huge expectations after his impressive spell at Milan.
For the 28-year-old Dutchman, meanwhile, a new chapter begins in Saudi Arabia — and Al Qadsiah will hope his quality and experience can help take the club to another level.
