Trump Warns Iran Over Activity at Nuclear Site
President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying the United States could strike a heavily fortified site near Iran’s damaged Natanz nuclear facility if Tehran continues activity there.
Speaking at the Republican Party’s midterm convention in Dallas, Trump said U.S. officials had detected what he described as “a little activity” at Pickaxe Mountain and warned Iran against taking further action.
Trump threatens a major response
Trump said the United States could respond with significant military force if Iran continues developing the site.
His warning adds another layer of tension to the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict and raises concerns about the possibility of another major military escalation in the region.
Pickaxe Mountain is located near the Natanz uranium-enrichment complex and contains deeply buried tunnel complexes. Its underground construction makes the facility particularly difficult to target.
Trump has previously identified the site as a potential target as the United States attempts to limit Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Why Pickaxe Mountain matters
The site has attracted international attention because of its location and underground construction.
Recent satellite imagery has shown construction activity around the facility, increasing concerns among U.S. and Israeli officials about Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Iran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful, while Western governments have raised concerns about Tehran’s nuclear activities and the possibility of weapons development.
The International Atomic Energy Agency also reported this week that Iran’s lack of cooperation with inspectors has created serious concerns over its nuclear program.
Another escalation risk
Trump’s latest warning comes as the broader conflict continues to affect the Middle East and global energy markets.
Oil prices have risen sharply amid concerns about attacks on shipping and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. The economic consequences have also become a political issue ahead of America’s November midterm elections.
For now, Trump’s statement is a warning rather than an announcement that a strike has been ordered.
But if Iran continues activity at Pickaxe Mountain, the situation could become even more dangerous.
The question now is whether Trump’s warning will prevent further activity—or lead to another major escalation.
