Angelina Jolie Reportedly ‘Very Emotional’ Amid Rumors of Distance From Her Kids as Brad Pitt Estrangement Adds More Pain: ‘The Hard Part Is…’ What’s Really Happening Behind Closed Doors?
For years, Angelina Jolie has been waiting to move out of the country and travel the world. The mom of six was kept in the United States by the custody agreement she had with ex Brad Pitt, but now that their two youngest kids, twins Knox and Vivienne, have turned 18, Jolie is free to live wherever she wants.
However, the children won’t be coming with her. “The hard part is that most of her kids will not be coming with her,” a source told In Touch. Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne “want to stay” in Los Angeles, while Maddox, Pax, and Zahara “all want to be on the East Coast.”
As expected, this will be a major adjustment for Jolie. “She’s happy that they’re making their own lives and she will of course come back to the States to visit them,” the source added. “But it’s still going to be a huge adjustment. She’s very emotional about it.”
Jolie previously hinted at her urge to leave LA, telling The Hollywood Reporter in August 2024 that she was really only living there “because I have to be here from a divorce.” Jolie then referenced Vivienne and Knox, saying she’d “be able to leave” once they turned 18.
That time has now officially come, and Jolie is ready to pack her bags and move abroad. It’s currently unclear where she plans to live, but she told L’Officiel she wants to spend more time “out of the States.”
“I don’t really plan to have a base. I’d like to have a home base for my family, a place where some of the mom stuff and the family photos are,” she explained. “And then I’d like to be a bit nomadic for a while. My home in Cambodia will also be a residency a few months out of the year for Khmer culture.”
The Oscar-winning actress seems confident about leaving the US, and her kids are deeply worried, according to RadarOnline. “This is something she’s wanted for so long, and they are very happy for her, but that doesn’t stop them from being pretty anxious about it,” an insider told the outlet.
“She’s planning to go back full steam into her most risky passions: her motorcycle, flying, doing field work in conflict zones.” And thought her kids support her, there’s still a level of worry.
“This is their mother. Of course, they are going to worry about her. They would never tell her not to pursue her passions. In fact, they are encouraging her to travel as far and wide as she needs to, but they do want some guardrails and promises from her that she will take precautions.”
