North Korea Launches Unidentified Projectile Toward East Sea

North Korea fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea on Sunday, September 20, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

Japanese authorities also reported the launch and described the projectile as a suspected ballistic missile. Japan’s defense ministry said it had already fallen, while officials continued analyzing its type and trajectory.

The launch comes just eight days after North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area. The latest incident adds to a recent series of weapons tests on the Korean Peninsula.

South Korean authorities are continuing to assess the launch as regional tensions remain closely watched.
