Rick Ross Busted for Alleged Battery After Ex-Girlfriend Claimed He Choked Her
Rapper Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami-Dade County on battery charges following allegations from an ex-girlfriend that he physically assaulted and strangled her.
According to TMZ, Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, turned himself in to police Thursday morning, October 1, 2026. He was arrested on charges of felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery. Court records reportedly show bonds of $5,000 and $1,000, respectively.
The arrest comes days after Ross’ former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused the rapper of physical abuse. Kendrick shared photos on Instagram that she said showed injuries she suffered during an alleged incident involving Ross. She claimed that Ross had “busted” her lip and described herself as having been treated like a “punching bag.”
According to TMZ’s law-enforcement sources, Kendrick told police that an alleged violent incident occurred on August 28 while the couple were staying at a home they shared. She reportedly said Ross became angry after seeing a photo in which she had been tagged on social media.
The allegations include claims that Ross slapped her, struck her in the chest several times, choked her until she had difficulty breathing, and grabbed her by the ponytail before allegedly slamming her against a wall. TMZ reported that Kendrick provided police with photographs of her alleged injuries.
Ross’s attorneys, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, have denied the allegations. In a statement reported by TMZ, they said Ross is “wrongfully accused,” has pleaded not guilty and asked the public not to prejudge the case while the legal process continues.
Ross remains in custody as of the latest reports, with his legal team working toward his release. His arraignment is scheduled for October 22, according to TMZ.
The allegations and arrest remain separate from a criminal conviction. Ross has pleaded not guilty, and the accusations have not been proven in court.
The case is developing.
