Trump’s AI Poll Sparks Backlash Over “Supreme Intelligence”
President Donald Trump has sparked a new online debate after asking supporters to vote on whether artificial intelligence should be renamed.
In a poll posted on Truth Social, Trump proposed three alternatives: “Superior Intelligence,” “Extreme Intelligence,” and “Supreme Intelligence.” The unusual proposal quickly drew attention online, with the word “Supreme” becoming a particular focus of discussion.
The poll came as Trump also criticized what he described as attacks on the AI industry and data centers. He argued that opposition to AI was being driven by political forces, while promoting a more ambitious role for artificial intelligence in the U.S. economy.
The controversy comes alongside growing public debate over AI, including concerns about data centers. A recent survey cited by The Next Web found that 61% of likely voters opposed building data centers to power AI, with opposition at 47% among Republicans and 75% among Democrats.
Trump’s poll has therefore become more than a question about terminology—it has opened another argument over how the administration is approaching America’s rapidly expanding AI industry.
