Liverpool see £60m offer for Yankuba Minteh rejected by Brighton

Liverpool have suffered another setback in their pursuit of Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh after the Premier League club rejected a second offer for the Gambian international.

According to reports, Liverpool increased their proposal to around £60 million, having previously seen an opening bid of £50 million turned down. Brighton, however, remain firm on their valuation and are understood to be looking for a fee closer to £70 million.

The 22-year-old Minteh has emerged as one of Liverpool’s options as the club looks to strengthen its wide attacking positions. The Reds are continuing to assess alternatives, with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola also reportedly high on their list.

One complication is Minteh’s current fitness. The winger is recovering from a leg injury and is expected to be unavailable until around October, meaning any potential move would not immediately solve Liverpool’s need for attacking reinforcements.

Despite the latest rejection, talks between Liverpool and Brighton are reportedly continuing. The key question now is whether Liverpool are prepared to return with an offer approaching Brighton’s £70 million valuation.

For Liverpool, the situation highlights the difficulty of finding a suitable wide attacker before the transfer window closes. For Brighton, Minteh’s long-term contract and importance to the squad give the club a strong negotiating position.

Liverpool’s next move could therefore be crucial: increase the offer again, negotiate a lower fee, or turn their attention to another attacking target.
