Trump Interrupted by Protester at North Carolina Rally: “She’s Going Home to Mama”
President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Gastonia, North Carolina, was briefly disrupted Wednesday when a female protester interrupted his speech while he was campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Michael Whatley.
Trump paused his remarks and asked the crowd what was happening, initially referring to the protester as a man. As the person was escorted away, Trump realized the demonstrator was a woman and remarked, “Oh, it’s a she. Hello. She’s going home to Mama.”
Trump then suggested that the woman’s mother was watching the rally on television and would be angry with her. The exchange drew a reaction from the crowd before Trump returned to his campaign speech.
The rally was held in support of Michael Whatley, who is running for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina against Democrat Roy Cooper. Trump used much of the speech to discuss crime, immigration and the upcoming midterm elections.
The brief confrontation quickly attracted attention online, with video of Trump’s reaction circulating across social media.
